What Is GRE?

The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) General Test is a computer-based or paper-based assessment of verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing used for graduate, business, and law school admissions globally. Scores are valid for five years.

The GRE General Test lasts ~3h 45m and includes Analytical Writing (2 tasks, up to 30 min each), Verbal & Quantitative reasoning sections (each 130–170 score range). It uses a section-adaptive format with an unscored experimental section.
